Firestone 5011

1950 4 Horsepower
F-N-R shift manufactured by Scott-Atwater
Identification plate is on the transom bracket

Here I will show how to replace the impeller on this model.
First, start by locating and removing

The three flathead screws on the back of the lower unit behind the prop shaft.
This allows access to one of the two 1/2" bolts you need to remove in order to lower the lower unit and remove it from the motor in order to access the impeller.

The other 1/" bolt is located right behind the top propeller blade.

Now, after lowering the lower unit off of the engine midesection.

we will see the impeller housing plate, which we can lift up

and access the impeller, which was hardened and broken on this particular motor.

reverse order to replace the impeller and place the lower unit back in place. Be careful to line up the shift lever correctly or the motor will not shift correctly.
