SHEAR PIN DIMENSIONS: SCROLL DOWN Free Hit Counter visitors since 11-07-06 REMINDERS: For the sections within, I advise the use of OXALIC ACID, carb cleaners and degreasers such as LA's Totally Awesome or Simply Green. NOTE: OXALIC ACID IS POISONOUS and can cause skin irritation. PLEASE wear gloves and dispose of properly. It will not damage paint, but can discolor aluminum or other metal parts a shade of green (oxidization) if soaked too long in oxalic acid. NOTE: The cleaners can strip or fade paint! If you have a pristine example, or damn near, you must take caution when cleaning the carb and gas tank so as to NOT damage your paint on your engine, lower unit, or anywhere else. Also keep in mind! CARB CLEANER REMOVES OIL from the cylinder walls if you get it inside a running motor on accident, or spray it to clean the cylinders out. BE SURE TO squirt a shot of oil 30w up to 80w oil in each of the cylinders through the spark plug holes. turn the motor by hand and this will relubricate and protect the pistons and cylinder walls! Okay my ''BONEHEAD REPAIR of 2007 I couldn't figure out, for nearly the entire year, why a Martin 60 I had recently serviced would no longer spark. I looked at everything, recleaned and reassembeled the magneto. My bonehead move: I put the cam for the magneto on upside down (arrow side down). I looked for hours as to what was wrong, put it away and rechecked it several times until one day I was looking at a box of spare Martin parts. I saw the arrow on the cam and wondered if it made a difference. Sure enough, I removed the cam from the engine I worked on and flipped it and spark was nice and bright again... even us 'experienced' guys make mistakes now and then. Okay, now back to business... Troubleshoot some running prolems with your TD/HD/TN Model Johnson I have 10 links for the section from the Johnson service manual to download or view if you'd like. very helpful information. KEEP IN MIND that OMC, Johnson and Evinrude were manufactured along with Gale product motors such as Hiawatha, Sea King, and so on. Many of the late 40s and early 50s through 70s shared parts. Some of the procedures are the same for multiple models, particularly the flywheel and magneto assemblies. TD/HD and Hiawatha and Sea King, amongst others are the same in the 40s. The 50s brought us the TN and the newer "universal" style magneto plate which is the same (and very close for multiple horsepowers from 3hp up) for the Gale division of OMC products as well. if you find this site has been helpful or enjoyed your visit take a few seconds to visit this link scroll to big lures little lures on this link and rate me, review me, and vote for me.
