NEXT, Carb removal from powerhead.

I remove the entire mount (six screws instead of the two nuts)

to access the valve springs and valves.
Once the carb, springs, and valves are removed...

I remove the back of the motor from the block to expose the crankshaft and piston retaining hex head screws.

Next, I remove the head screws from the block.

This poor ol' gal had a stuck piston. Pretty nasty, but not too far gone to salavge.

here we see the proper location of the pistons in relation to the crankshaft.
an easy thing to overlook when reassembling if you don't know.
The next two pictures show the proper location for the valve lifters.

The crankshatf

has bearing sleeves that sit in the block

make sure to note the position of the holes on these brass sleeves.

After we get the crankshaft out, we can service the carb.

carb disassembly is easy also.
start by removing the 4 carb bowl screws.

NEXT

carb float removal is done by removing the brass screw from the bottom of the carb bowl.

exposing the needle valve.

which can be removed by first removing the gas valve from the bowl bottom.
a 7/16" wrench should remove this easily.

remving this flathead screw allows access to the needle valve to be sure the passages are clean and dirt free.

more martin service to come, including lower unit service as pictures arrive.
